National Youth Theatre Season
A radical retelling of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray.
'Ugliness is unfortunate. Beauty is unforgiveable'
The National Youth Theatre presents an electrifying world premiere of Selfie, inspired by Oscar Wilde's iconic tale of deception, youth, and vanity. In an age of self-obsession and advancing technology, everyone is capable of becoming an artist of his or her own life.
Set tomorrow, artist Basil Hallward, becomes infatuated with his new client Dorian, a woman who is unaware of her striking beauty. Dorian enters Basil's circle of artists and entrepreneurs and is soon plagued by self-doubt and vanity - doing whatever it takes to remain beautiful. With live music and big characters, this scandalous tale will be like nothing you've seen before¦but don't worry, it isn't about you. Yet.
Running Time: Approximately 2 hours & 5 minutes, including a 15 minute interval.
