A Visitor Oyster card is a plastic smart card you can use to pay for travel in London instead of cash and paper tickets. It is the cheapest way to pay for single journeys on bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground and most National Rail Services in London.

A Visitor Oyster card is a pay as you go smart card which is pre-loaded with credit for you to spend on travel on bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground and most National Rail train services in London. The card costs £3 (non-refundable) plus postage. The system automatically calculates the cost of each journey you make based on how and when you travel and which Zone(s) you travel in.

To save you money, there is a daily price cap for using your Visitor Oyster card - once you have reached this limit, you won't pay any more.

You can pay for Thames Clippers river bus fares with your Visitor Oyster card - these fares are not included in the daily price cap.

Good To Know

Remember - look for the yellow card reader when you travel. Always touch your card in and touch out. If you don't do this, the system will not know which journey you made and you may be charged a maximum fare. You might also get a penalty fare or be prosecuted. If you need help, ask a member of staff.

On buses and trams you only need to touch the card reader at the start of your journey.

If you run out of credit, you can top up your card at any station or at thousands of shops throughout London. You can also make one bus journey without any credit. The cost of the journey will be deducted when you next top up your Oyster card.

Does not Cover Luton or Stansted Airport.
