An American In Paris

Event location: Dominion Theatre. Ongoing event.

Prepare to be swept away by the breathless romance and dazzling spectacle of Broadway's triumphant, Tony® Award-winning hit musical as it comes to London with the original stars¦

Jerry Mulligan is an American GI striving to make it as a painter in a city suddenly bursting with hope and possibility. Following a chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer named Lise, the streets of Paris become the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war...

Experience the theatrical event of 2017 as this stunning reimagining of the Oscar® winning film (acclaimed by The New York Times as "a perfect integration of dance, romance and classic Gershwin") arrives at the West End's beautifully refurbished Dominion Theatre from 4 March, featuring the original, award-winning Broadway stars Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope.

Performed by a company of over 50 actors, dancers and musicians, and directed and choreographed by Olivier and Tony® Award-winner Christopher Wheeldon, this celebrated production played a sold out, world premiere engagement at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris before transferring triumphantly to Broadway, where it became the most awarded musical of the year.

This "breathtakingly beautiful staging of the MGM musical" (The Independent), features many of George and Ira Gershwin's most popular and timeless songs, including I Got Rhythm, 'S Wonderful and They Can't Take That Away From Me, together with George Gershwin's sublime compositions Concerto in F and An American in Paris.

Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Craig Lucas, the "spectacular production" (Chicago Tribune) features set and costume designs by seven-time Tony® Award-winner Bob Crowley (The Audience; Mary Poppins); projections by the renowned British designers 59 Productions (War Horse; London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony); Tony® Award-winning orchestrations by Christopher Austin, Don Sebesky and Bill Elliott; sound by Jon Weston and lighting by Natasha Katz, who won her fifth Tony® Award for this production.
