There must be ley lines under Abingdon Road in Kensington, if the high quality of restaurant activity there is anything to go by. L Restaurant and Bar is a bright, modern space with creamy walls, modern art, lots of glass and light, especially under the conservatory roof. The chef adheres to the molecular gastronomy style of cuisine. What does that mean? Startling complexity. For instance, a starter salad has been known to include mixed leaves, tomatoes, watermelon, cashew nuts and both raw and deep-fried tofu. Main course of sea bass fillet could come baked in a banana leaf with lime and coconut. Intriguing side dishes should be considered, too, like wok-fried spinach with lemon, garlic and chilli. Menus change with the seasons.
