Le Caprice

About Le Caprice

In the same group as the famous Ivy, the glamourous Le Caprice has been getting the high-style dining experience right for just about ever. The decor doesn’t seem to have changed since the eighties, but it really doesn’t matter. Creamy walls dotted with artistic black and white photos, unfussy minimalism, wicker chairs, sunny windows, quiet(ish) cul-de-sac - somehow it all adds up to a great meal out. Perhaps it’s the warm, professional welcome and sure-footed service. Perhaps it’s the continuing CQ (celebrity quotient). Now here’s a thought: perhaps it’s the food. Starters include the longtime favourite bang bang chicken, as well as sauteed foie gras with sauternes jus. The small selection of pastas is highlighted by tagiatelle with creamed girolles. Mains include eastern-accented dishes like honey-roasted duck breast with peanut and egg noodle salad with oriental dressing as well as standards like grilled ribeye with onion rings and herb butter. The pommes allumettes are very moreish. The eggs Benedict are faultless. All in all, a rather wonderful experience.
