Bibendum

About Bibendum

The flagship Conran restaurant in an historic setting, Bibendum is not only a high-end modern European eaterie but also the name of that podgy little Michelin man in white who features in the stained-glass windows. It’s as if a bistro died and went to heaven. The room is spacious, the decor is dressy and chic, the menus handwritten, the service very smart indeed, and the food absolutely topnotch. You might spot a few celebs, or you might just find yourself enjoying your own meal so much that you forget to scan the room. This is a place for romance or deal-making or celebrations you want to remember. What’s cooking? Matthew Harris works wonders with his modern Euro menu. The menu might include starters like piquillo peppers stuffed with tuna served with nicoise relish, or potato gnocchi with parmesan cream and chives, mains might be confit duck legs with mustard lentils, or poached fillet of cod with chopped egg and anchovy sauce, and puds, oh the puds! Consider chocolate butter cake with creme anglaise, or a perfect creme brulee. Oenophiles will certainly believe they’re in heaven when they peruse the wine list - an award-winner of nearly a thousand bottles.
