"The Customer should always be put first"

Went to buy a luggage set last week. The floor staff were absolutely marvellous and helpful. Wanted to speak to the manager who apparently had walked out of the store without notifying the floorstaff that he had gone to lunch. I had to wait nearly half an hour for his return and when he did he refused to come upstairs from the basement to talk to me as I was hoping to ask if I could get a discount on the luggage set valued at 80 quid as most of the other items were on sale. He instead relayed his message via phone which was totally unprofessional. Had he come upstairs and acknowleged me and still said no to a discount I would have respected him more and gone ahead and purchased the itmes anyway but I was so disgusted by his behaviour I decided not to purchase the goods. There is a lesson to be learned from this and that is actions speak louder than words and with the recession going on retail need to rely on customer support to keep their businesses afloat. Shame on this day it never happened. .
