"Friendliest Charity Shop EVER!"A review of Oxfam by HappyTrixie - Saturday 23rd of October 2010Advertisements
You know when you get great service in a cafe or at the ticket office - and you promise yourself that you will send a note of thanks to their boss? - well... I have just returned home with bagfulls of amazing outfits and had the most amazing shopping experience EVER! AND! it was in a charity shop! I know the staff in John Lewis or Topshop are PAID to be nice & helpful - but these Oxfam Volunteers are NOT paid - and yet they put all the other retailers to shame when it comes to customer care. I have no idea what drives their motivation levels up so high - but H&M and Selfridges should get some of it as well! So..... not only were the staff so lovely - but the fashion was of the best quality - and quite cheap - well - certainly cheaper than any high street shop. But the best stuff was in the accessory section. OMG! I nearly spent my whole student grant on stunning bags, funky belts, sexy shoes - and some warm & comfy scarves for the winter. Maybe it's just Lyme Regis, but I have never seen any of this stuff on sale anywhere before. The one volunteer told me that a lot of the donations recently - were from some LSE students going back to Hong Kong, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, India & America - so that might account for some of the classy labels I stocked up with. Maybe when I'm done studying - I shock my folks into taking a job as the manager of the Lyme Regis Oxfam shop - instead of law. If the volunteers are as friendly back home as they were in this shop - then at least I'll be able to live the rest of my life surrounded by lovely people - and vexxed parents! Anyhow - as promised - I have sent a thank you card to the Oxfam HQ thanking them for this Drury Lanes branch's excellent service. |
