"Affordable housing in East London - Poplar"

A review of Glenkerry (Co-Operative) Housing Association by Bryan Wardman written on Wednesday 28th of February 2007

I have lived in Glenkerry House for over 10 years. It is a block of 79 flats of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms. The criteria for entry are simple. Applicants need to demonstrate:

a) A need for housing

b) A willingness to help run the Housing Association

c) Be earning a salary sufficient to cover mortgage, service and other charges.

Of necessity, this introduction is brief. Glenkerry Housing Association Ltd is run entirely by its shareholders. A one bedroomed flat costs around £70,000 - and the price reflects a 50% discount of the price set by the District Valuer. Application forms can be obtained from: The Residents Selection Convenor, The Office, Glenkerry House, 98 Burcham Street, London E14 0SL.
