"Short pants!"

I remember going to school in short pants in the 1950s when the winters were wicked.

Mine, and my two brothers thighs used to get so cold they would bleed.

My mother had a tube of glymeal jelly an it worked.

I was telling my grandchildren about this and they laughed. They can't believe we had to wear short trousers for school until we were 14 years old unless we were exceptionally tall!

As a matter of fact I left school at 14 years old and never remember wearing long trousers at school.
