"Room for improvement"

My boyfriend and I went to Loco Locale for a meal a few weeks ago and we were very disappointed. I heard it was a nice, trendy place to have some drinks and it’s probably fine for just that but the food and the service wasn’t impressive. We were greeted very well and were happy until the starters came out. We were served about 3 or 4 tiny pieces of calamari…cold! The plates were dirty. We waited an hour for 2 pizzas without being told we’d have to wait or without being checked on during that hour. When they arrived, the base of my pizza was completely burnt. No one came to ask us if everything was ok and when we got the bill, they had charged us for a bottle of wine £5 more expensive than the one we had. The waitress didn’t come so I had to queue at the bar to pay for the meal and it was very busy so I had to stand there and wait…again. They had the cheek to add on 12.5% service charge by default without asking if the meal was ok. I always leave a tip but when the service is lacking and poor, I feel it is insulting to expect the customer to pay 12.5%. I told the man at the till that I wasn’t happy and asked if they could change the wine, which he finally did but I didn’t get a discount for the awful food and the service charge was still added. I hadn’t the energy to argue anymore and just left, with a bitter taste in my mouth..
