Dear Editor,

Veils v. Aprons

42 out of 44 Cathedrals (95%) have responded to the “Church of England Survey 2006: Cathedral Links with Freemasons”.

The Survey Report, now doing the rounds globally, is remarkable because for the first time it brings into the public domain facts, diocese by diocese, about the relationship between the Church of England and an organisation with a secret, all male, mainly white membership in England of some 300,000. The report is significant because there is an unresolved controversy about (a) the role of Freemasons in our society and (b) the compatibility of Freemasonry and Christianity.

Yet the report circulates everywhere except in the Press. Why does the Press ignore the report? Because the (mainly white, all-male) Freemasons enjoy a special unmentionable status in this country which renders them immune to (white, mainly male-dominated) Press investigation. They have been granted invisible status. The report is relevant now in the context of religious/cultural norms because side by side with Freemasons in the Church of England stands that elusive, mysterious body, the newly-formed Priory of England – a front for the Order of St. John, with its knights in swirling robes, which derives historically from the wars of the Crusades against the Muslims. Who was the first Dean of the Priory of England? The recently retired Bishop of Norwich, the Rt. Revd. Peter Nott.

I accuse the Press of gross bias in focusing attention on the tiny minority of veiled Muslim women, while insisting on a blanket ban on (rather than merely veiling) proper debate about white faceless men for whom a secret identity is at the heart of their Masonic practice. And who are picking on the veiled women? The same white Christian males who refuse to report on their Masonic brothers.

This letter will be sent to Asian media outlets.

Yours truly,

HUGH SINCLAIR
The Masonic Antient Charges state that “you are .. to prefer a poor Brother, that is a good man and true BEFORE any other poor People in the same Circumstance.” This obligation binds all Freemasons - including clergy, lawyers and public servants - of every degree.
MFRFM seeks to argue for a public register of Freemasons.
