Adelphi Hotel


(WC2) 1 to 4, John Street, Adelphi (formerly Osborn's) . Crabbe, the poet, and his wife stayed here in 1913. Rowlandson, the famous caricaturist, died here. The father of the Earl of Beaconsfield, Isaac D'Israeli, author of Curiosities of Literature, stayed here after his wedding tour in 1802 (History of the Adelphi and its Neighbourhood, by Austin Brereton, p. 180) . Osborn's is mentioned in Pickwick.
