Great Suffolk Street

Southwark. (SE1) Named from Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, who lived here in Suffolk House. This street was formerly known by the name of "Dirty Lane," an appellation which it very well deserved. (Reference: Thornbury's Old and New London, vol. vi, p. 63)
