The London 2012 Olympic Games

The 2012 Olympics were held in London in the Summer of 2012, the main focal point being at the Olympic Park, which occupies an area of about 500 acres (just over 202 hectares) in a location near Stratford, in the East of London. The Olympic Park hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the showcase athletics events, swimming, diving and cycling.

This site was home to the Athletes Village, the Aquatics Centre, the Hockey Centre, the Velopark as well as the centrepiece which is the main Olympic Stadium.

The Olympics took place from 27th July 2012 until 12th August 2012. The Paralympic Games followed the Olympics and ran from 29th August 2012 until 9th September 2012, making use of the same facilities in the Olympic Park.
