London Bridge

About London Bridge

London Bridge connects the City with the Borough and the South of London. It carries an enormous quantity of traffic, both for vehicles and pedestrians and is a must-see for any London visitor, especially at the busy hours of the day. The bridge has existed in one form or another since Roman times, having been rebuilt several times.

The current bridge, designed by architect Lord Holford and engineers Mott, Hay and Anderson, opened in 1973 and is a box girder bridge built from concrete and steel. The previous London Bridge was built of granite to a design by John Rennie.
