About Tower Hill

Tower Hill stands to the north west of the Tower Of London. Throughout history, many famous people have been beheaded on a scaffold on this hill, among others: Bishop Fisher, 1535 ; Thomas More, 1535 Earl of Essex, 1543 ; Earl of Surrey, Lord Guildford Dudley, 1554 ; Archbishop Laud, 1645 ; Earl of Strafford, 1641 ; and Lord Lovat, 1747, who was the last person beheaded (by the state at least) in England.
