Madam Butterfly

Event location: London Coliseum. Ongoing event.

Day after day, week after week, month after month, she waits for her love to return. He will. She knows he will. One fine day.

Madam Butterfly is one of opera's most enduring tales of unrequited love. Puccini's tragic story tells of Cio Cio San, a young Japanese girl who falls in love with American naval officer Pinkerton, with devastating consequences.

One of the most iconic productions in ENO's repertoire,Anthony Minghella's Olivier Award-winning production has been hailed as 'the most beautiful show of the year' (Sunday Telegraph). Its breathtaking mix of cinematic images, traditional Japanese theatre, colourful costumes and stunning sets, make this a must-see staging of Madam Butterfly.

Richard Armstrong conducts a superb cast which is led by American soprano Rena Harms as Butterfly and British tenor David Butt Philip in his role debut as Pinkerton. Alun Rhys Jenkins and Pamela Helen Stephen reprise their roles as Goro and Suzuki, with ENO Harewood Artists George von Bergen as

Sharpless, Samantha Price as Kate Pinkerton, and Matthew Durkan as Yamadori.
