A review of Clarins UK Ltd by Dr Cheryl Mvula written on Tuesday 2nd of March 2010
At the weekend I purchased a Clarins lipstick from Boots at Bluewater, but only after the sales assistant on the Clarins stand had confirmed that Clarins are against testing their products on animals i.e. it was a cruelty free product. I was hence very upset when I found out yesterday that Clarins is not approved by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection as it does not use a fixed cut-off date for the ingredients it buys - even if it claims not to test on animals itself it may still profit from animal suffering because it is continuing to buy ingredients that may have been animal tested and it helps to perpetuate the market for animal tested ingredients.
Please would you on behalf of myself and the very many other Clarins customers who wish to ensure that that the products we buy from you truely are 'cruelty free' adopt a Fixed Cut-Off date policy and apply to join the Standard. Only in this way can we know that your products are truely cruelty free.
Please could you also educate your staff on these issues so they do not mistakenly give their customers the wrong information on which to make buying decisions, so others like myself are not left with a relatively expensive lipstick that they cannot now use.
I have always thought Clarins to be ethical so would like to see you take the lead in this area. Up until that time I am afraid that I will have to move to another brand for my beauty products..
