"I was a boarder from 1944 to 1953 when the boarders section closed."

The person who wrote that the Sacred Heart Convent continued to have boarders in 1953 has left me bewildered, as in the Summer of 1953 my Mother was sent a letter from the Convent saying they were shutting down the boarding section. I then went to Norte Dame Grammar School, Southwark, having successfully passed the 11+ exam. The Sacred Heart nuns were extremely harsh and often very cruel to the children in their care. I still bear the scars of their violent outbursts towards me usually because I smiled at the wrong time in the wrong place. I have forgiven these deranged and pitiful women, but I cannot forget the 9 years of physical and mental torture they subjected me to as a defenceless child. God will be their judge on Judgement Day..
