Post World War II London

The period following World War II saw much change for the capital city of England. The city needed to repair itself following the tough war years and something was also needed to lift the morale of the population who had suffered so much due to the conflict.

The Olympic Games in 1948 was a welcome distraction and took place at Wembley Stadium, to the west of London's centre. London was also to be the venue for The Festival of Britain in 1951 which was a welcome boost for Londoners and was very uplifting.
