My time at Holy Family Convent started in 1952 with Sister Scolastica. I remember her as a tyrant. We were mixed boys and girls. Girls had the mat for punishment boys worse. I am left handed which she frowned upon and I regularly got her cane across my arm for cheating as I was facing a different way to the others. I was taught by rote and we learned well but I wish my years there had been happier.
