I also went to Holy Family Convent in London Road, Enfield. At the age of nearly five I started in Kindergarten with Sister Scolasticaas our fist teacher. The classroom overlooked the playground which several children used to look out of the window perhaps longing for break time. Being young we were a mixed class. Yes sister Scolantica was fairly stricked, but fair at the same time.I remember the mat at the back of the class but never sat on it.

As we all progressed to the next class "transition" , & then to form one. Here we had Miss Hally a grey haired teacher who I was lovely. This classroom was at the end of the building but here we all said goodbye to one another as some children who were leaving & others to the big school. .Then things became serious teaching.

I loved the sports days where we had Miss Collins teaching gymnastics, which I loved.Outside we had sack races, egg & spoon race, 100 yds run etc & always had good weather. Those were the days.

Back in class Mrs Tasker took geography & taught about the tundra which was interesting. The nuns were easy to talk to, but I always thought the head mistress a nun, was a little stern. Alas I can't remember her name. I left the convent aged 11yrs as we moved to Hampshire to another convent in Romsey.

Much later in life whilst working in London I bumped into someone who was in the kindergarten with me. I had never forgotten him.WOW did we laugh.

Since then I have never forgetten all my class mates & wonder where they all are & are they still alive? Back in my school days my name was Valerie Wing. but I now live in Norfolk..
